Living Space

The light and airy non-smoking ground floor of the house provides privacy from the main residence and has it’s own independent road access. It has been converted to a very high standard with much of the original stone walling displayed, and it is situated on a working wine domaine. The property is fed by a fresh mountain spring using our dedicated storage and pumping facilities to ensure a constant and readily drinkable supply for all purposes. There is a separate spring in the courtyard. Looking out from the double glazed picture windows in the lounge and main bedroom you can enjoy the fantastic view across the vineyards and valley to the distant hills, chateaux and mountains.  Sitting under the sky on a clear night with the absence of street lighting means every star can be seen. The apartment is centrally heated and is available for lets throughout the year.

Inside the property……

The spacious principal interior area has a ceiling height of  3 ¼ metres. It comprises a lounge/living area of 7 x 4 meters, and a Kitchen/Dining area of 3 ½ x 5 metres.

 The Kitchen area

There is an open plan American kitchen with washing machine, dishwasher, fridge freezer, coffee maker, waffle maker, hand mixer, hob, small electric oven and dual-cook microwave oven.  It is further equipped to a high standard with items such as a fondue set, mixer, paella pan and outside picnic ware for use by the pool, as well as an excellent collection of wine glasses and crockery for indoor use.  Additional kitchen equipment can be provided, and we have a library of cookery books available should you need them to make the most of the excellent fish and other delights available in the daily food market in Narbonne The kitchen is decorated with a selection of antique enamel signs and other  kitchenalia.

The Lounge

The lounge area contains a live French TV, , DVD player and CD sound system.  There is a convertible settee, which will sleep two, together with a further settee, pine cabinet/coffee table and there is supplementary lighting. There is a large selection of board games and paperbacks. The large sliding patio doors open directly onto a patio area, the garden and the fantastic view.

The Dining Area

The dining area contains a very good quality Victorian mahogany dining table and accompanying chairs, with an overhead antique French brass chandelier, (with dimmer switch for that special ambience) and a chiffonier of similar vintage. Supplementary lighting focuses on the one hand on the mellow stonewalling and on the other the kitchen area.  It also contains a magnificent Napoleon IV  clock [the chime of which can be switched off!].

General

The whole of the interior of the property is well decorated, and the furnishings are supplemented with tasteful pictures, paintings and other decorative and interesting objects. The apartment has new UPVC windows throughout. It is built into the rock and elsewhere has exceedingly thick stone walls (some of these are exposed in the lounge and dining area) so remains cool during the day in the height of summer, but with the central heating, cosy during the winter!
